Pasadena Little Theatre, one of the oldest continuously-operating 501c, all-volunteer community theatres in Texas, founded in 1955 and currently in its 72nd season. Each year, PLT offers a 9-show season with 6 productions in the 103-seat Russell Mainstage Theatre and 3 productions in the newly-renovated 47-seat Black Box Studio Theatre. In addition to its full season, PLT presents 2 full-scale fundraiser productions and year-round workshops and classes for all ages through its Black Box Academy.

PLT’s October production is the World Premiere of the supernatural comedy, Living with the Living, written and directed by Matthew Carlin and assistant-directed by Donna Bane.
Meet the talented cast of the upcoming Black Box Studio Theatre production, the double-bill presentation of the two sister one-acts Graceland and Asleep on the Wind, written by Ellen Byron and directed by Kerry Goff.

Performances: October 9 – 18, 2026
Synopsis: Bound by the terms of a peculiar will, Gordon, the final Hunt heir, must spend the night in the mansion that has been in his family for generations. A scheming real estate agent smells profit from a rumored hidden treasure somewhere in the house and is pressuring Gordon to sell. However, the house’s other occupants: “spirits” of deceased family members stuck reliving a century-old murder in endlessly inventive—and hilarious—ways, have ideas of their own. Adding to chaos is the fact that only Gordon can see his dearly departed, and not-so-helpful, ancestors.
Character Descriptions:
Gordon Gentry, M/30s – Living, recently inherited his distant family’s estate, able to see and interact with his deceased ancestors still on the premises.
Jonathan Hunt, M/40s – Deceased, Gordon’s ancestor, husband to Elizabeth, father to Rebecca. Diplomatic and level-headed.
Elizabeth Hunt, F/40s – Deceased, Gordon’s ancestor, wife to Jonathan, mother to Rebecca. Genteel and refined.
Rebecca Hunt, F/16 – Deceased, Gordon’s ancestor, daughter of Jonathan and Elizabeth. Free-spirited and excitable.
Doris James, F/30s+ – Living, pushy real estate agent with eyes on Gordon’s newly-inherited estate and willing to get it by whatever means necessary.
Herbert Hunt, M/40s+ – Deceased. Gordon’s ancestor, brother to Jonathon. Comically jealous and murderous, but also completely dim to the fact that they are all long-dead.
Jackie, F/20s+ – Living, a paranormal investigator. Also doubles as the small role of Kim, Gordon’s wife.
Jake, M/20s+ – Living, a paranormal investigator.

Synopsis:
These two companion one-act plays both explore themes of grief, fandom, and family. In “Graceland,” two women, Bev and Rootie, both of whom consider themselves to be Elvis Presley’s number one fan, comically face off to be the first to enter The King’s Memphis home in 1982. The prequel, “Asleep on the Wind,” set 10 years earlier in rural Louisiana, reveals Rootie’s heart-breaking backstory and her deep bond with her beloved older brother and protector, Beau.
Character Descriptions:
Bev Davies, F/40s+: From New England, strong-willed and opinionated, but also very generous and open. She is very careful about her appearance despite her junk food obsession. She is totally and completely dedicated to Elvis and expects nothing less from those around her.
Rootie Mallert, F/20s: From Cajun country, Louisiana. She has a frail build, is uneducated and extremely simple, naïve and unworldly, sincere but determined. Having grown up surrounded by men, she is unsure of how to act with women, but wants very much to be liked.
Rootie DeJaun, F/13: Timid, shy and frailly built. Doesn’t have friends, spends most of her free time with her oldest brother, Beau, whom she idolizes. Not comfortable with other people. Self-conscious, insecure, awkward. She lives for her brother, who can bring out her fun, giggly, even slightly tough side.
Beau DeJaun: M/20s: Very handsome, a dreamer and tale-spinner. Sensitive, gentle, and like his sister, not very comfortable with those outside his family, or even his own much wilder brothers. He is charming and romantic, and at times seems wise beyond his years.

Come sing and act up with us as we explore some of our favorite “The Little Mermaid” songs and music! This camp will be a fun and exciting way for your actors to spend a week this summer. It will include exposure to theater education, exercises, and etiquette while working together to create a short showcase for families on the last day of camp. 
Does your young actor enjoy playing as a Super Hero or do they have more of a Super Villain vibe? There is no wrong answer for the participants of this fun, active camp! During this week, our actors will create their own characters and tell their stories. In addition to theater exercises, this camp will use improv and storytelling to create an end-of-week showcase for families. 
Come sing and act up with us as we explore some of our favorite Disney moments, songs and music! A little bit of this… A little bit of that…. A whole lot of fun! This camp will be a fun and exciting way for your actors to spend a week this summer. It will include exposure to theater education, exercises, and etiquette while working together to create a short showcase for families on the last day of camp. 
“So many wonders of the universe old and new… So many wishes and dreams that do come true.” Join us for this exciting opportunity where our actors get to learn about being in a theatre production from start to finish. As a production camp, this is also a great opportunity for young people who are interested in theatre but, perhaps, do not wish to be on stage. We will have multiple opportunities for participants to serve as crew, if they wish. Come Act UP with us!! Participating in our YAW experience requires daily attendance for the entire two weeks of the camp and the three mandatory performances: Saturday, July 18th (2 PM & 7 PM) and Sunday, July 19th (2 PM). Please do not register for this production camp unless your young actor is able to fully attend.
SPECIAL NOTES:
* Be sure to register early! Each camp has a required minimum of 5 participants.
* Once registered, you will get an informational email to explain everything you need to know about what a summer camp at Pasadena Little Theatre will be like.
* If you know you plan to attend but can’t pay the tuition until a later date, please reach out to Program Director so that your camper can be counted among the numbers of those participating. This will help us avoid a cancellation when there are those planning to attend. If a camp is canceled due to low attendance, full refunds will be given.

Kim’s had it with her widowed dad, John, and his “bah humbug” attitude. This Christmas, she’s determined to drag him — kicking and grumbling — back into the holiday spirit. Her plan? A festive ambush! She invites an unpredictable mix of “guests” to his house: John’s long-lost first love, Leslie (who he hasn’t seen in thirty years), her sharp-tongued mother, and her mischievous ten-year-old niece — all ready to test his patience and his heart. Add in Kim’s husband, Dennis (John’s least favorite person), plus two of Kim’s friends, Laney and Julie — two bona fide Christmas fanatics — and the result is pure holiday chaos.
But when a blizzard traps everyone inside, tinsel flies, tempers flare, and old wounds melt faster than the ice outside. It’s a hilarious, heartwarming Christmas collision that just might thaw even the frostiest of hearts — and turn John’s “worst Christmas ever” into one he’ll never forget.

Black Box Studio Theatre Undergoing a Major Transformation
Pasadena Little Theatre’s Black Box Theatre is currently under renovation to become the Black Box Studio Theatre at PLT. After not being utilized for several years, the space is getting a new look, a new layout and a new purpose! Now designed to be a truly modular space that can accommodate a number of different seating arrangements for a variety of programming, the BBST@PLT will be a welcome addition to the dynamic entertainment options offered by Your Hometown Theatre.
The Work Isn’t Done Yet!
We still need plenty of volunteers to help with the build-out/remodels on four Saturday Work Days: August 9 & 16 and September 20 & 27 @ 10:00 a.m. until mid-afternoon. So, calling all He-Men and She-Hulks, limber ladder-climbers and patient painters. All hands on deck and no help refused… PLUS, we’ll have doughnuts!

Open Call for Script Submissions
OPEN CALL FOR SCRIPT SUBMISSIONS:
— Short scripts on the theme of Love and Relationships for an upcoming production in the newly-renovated Black Box Studio Theatre at PLT.— Original works by local playwrights are STRONGLY encouraged.
— Submissions will be considered for inclusion in the inaugural production of the Short Attention Span Series (SASS), Vol. 1 festival of shorts in March 2026
— All selected short works will be featured in a fully-staged showcase staged troupe-style by a cast of 6-8 actors, led by a collaboration of 2-3 directors.
REQUIREMENTS:
— All submissions must be 15 minutes long or less.
— Feature no more than 6 actors.
— Pertain to the theme of Love and Relationships.
— Only royalty-free submissions will be accepted at this time.
— Submissions must be received digitally no later than October 10, 2025 to be considered for this season’s SASS production.

Calling All Directors
Pasadena Little Theatre is soliciting Directors for our 72nd Season (June 2026 – May 2027). We are asking Directors to submit their favorite plays for consideration.
PLT is interested in receiving submissions for comedies, mysteries, thrillers, dramas, holiday/seasonal shows, classics, new releases and musicals that will fit our small space.
Each Director may submit 1 to 3 full length plays.
Interested Directors should email pasadena.little.theatre@gmail.com by September 15th.
Our play selection chair, Vanessa Pearson, will contact you with an application and information.
